Dear NWOEA UniServ Consultants and
Council Chairs,
The Professional Development
Committee (PDC) of Northwestern Ohio Education Association is
offering each UniServ Council up to two UniServ Workshop Training
Grants for the 2009-2010 school year. Each council may hold its own
training sessions, or a number of councils may combine and pull more
funds together as has been done by some councils in the past. NWOEA
will pay up to $400 per council for the actual expenses incurred for
each training session. Each council is permitted to hold up to two
training workshops at two different times throughout the year until
the funds are exhausted.
The intent of this funding is to
provide training for local associations in such areas as: grievance
processing, local professional development committees, licensure,
negotiations, OEA Fund for Children and Public Education drives,
campaigning for local/state endorsed candidates, association
business, effects of new legislation, or other areas of professional
development of interest to your council members. A dinner may be
served with the sessions, but it may not be the focus of the
meeting. See the enclosed flier for guidelines.
The PDC will meet to review
applications and to decide on approval or denial of the grant
applications four times a year. The deadlines for the 2009-2010
year are as follows: October 12, February 8, April 19, and August
3. Please plan ahead and adjust your schedule accordingly.
Applications will be approved or denied and the councils will be
notified of their status after the PDC screening meeting.
A copy of the evaluation form that
your participants will use must accompany your grant request. After
the workshop a summary of the completed evaluations along with your
expense form is to be forwarded to the NWOEA Center. At this time,
a reimbursement check for the actual expenses up to $400 will be
issued.
