2004 NEA Mid-Atlantic Conference


This year NWOEA, NEA and OEA sent six members from NWOEA to the NEA's Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference in Baltimore, Maryland (January 23-25). This year's confernece theme was "Staying the Course: Great Public Schools for Every Child". NWOEA representatives attended sessions on: Developing Cultural Identiy, Safe Schools, Protecting the Retirement Security of Members, I Can Do It, No Child Left Behind, Social Security Offsets and Breaking the Cycle of Poverty in addition to hearing speeches by: Baltimore's Mayor, NEA President Reg Weaver, NEA Secretary - Treasurer Lily Eskelsen, Senator Barbara Mikulski, and Ohio State Senator the Honorable C.J. Prentiss. They also celebrated the 100th birthday of Dr. Seuss. Over 400 members from the states of: Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Federal, and Virginia attended the conference with 91 OEA members from the great state of Ohio.
